Greenpeace France was established in the year 1977. Its protests were mainly focused on French nuclear tests and the dumping of nuclear wastes. In 1980, Greenpeace France organized peaceful protests against the reprocessing of nuclear fuel in La Hague and also French Polynesia nuclear tests. During 1983, Greenpeace France publicly disclosed that 41 barrels of toxic nuclear wastes suddenly vanished. This incident helped the organization to start SEVESO; which focuses mainly on the global trade of toxic nuclear waste.

In 1985 the “Rainbow Warrior”, a Greenpeace ship was blown up by the French secret service at the Auckland port in New Zealand for campaigning against French nuclear tests. Two years later, agents of Greenpeace France were forced to close due to the misinformation campaign that was stage-managed by the secret service. However, in 1989 Greenpeace France started its operations again with a new team and continued its efforts in preventing nuclear proliferation and other environmental issues. Today, Greenpeace France is a vibrant organization with over 100,000 activists participating in various campaigns and protesting for the service of the entire human race.

Greenpeace France has been constantly opposing the cultivation of genetically modified crops as GM crops proved to be hazardous to consumers as well as the cattle. Similarly, Greenpeace has been trying to evade deforestation as only about 20% of the ancient forests are still left on Earth. Instead, Greenpeace France is demanding more trees to be planted for the eco system to remain balanced because it is currently being highly disturbed by the effects of greenhouse gases. Greenpeace France, like other Greenpeace organizations, acts out using non-violent techniques. They employ creative ideas and win over the debate by proving their often very valid points. They research, work on a project and carry evidences for the protest they are fighting for. These organizations revolve around the efforts of maintaining peace globally and they are much concerned about the environment. Greenpeace monitors the species in all areas of the planet including rainforests, oceans, and ice tables.

Greenpeace has, over the years, contributed a lot in preserving the ecosystem and will likely continue to work for the benefit of the environment for a very long time to come. However, their efforts would be much more effective if more individuals would join forces in maintaining the ecosystem.
